About the campus

The relationship between International Place and SeaTac Airport goes back to the beginning.

Built between 1974 and 1980, the complex was originally named Kilroy Airport Center/SeaTac, after developer and owner, John Kilroy Sr., of Kilroy Realty. During that time, jet travel was picking up, and the airport saw significant developments in line with increasing passenger demand. Nearly 10 million passengers traveled through SeaTac Airport in 1979. This period of growth paralleled the establishment of Kilroy Airport Center/SeaTac, creating a sense of synergy between the two.

In 2007, the complex underwent a significant change in ownership, passing the reins from Kilroy Realty to ScanlanKemperBard, or "SKB." With this transition, a new name was chosen - SeaTac Office Center. The new name maintained a connection to SeaTac Airport, where passenger count had skyrocketed to 31.3 million that year.

In 2023, the campus was rebranded as International Place. The new name reflects the Puget Sound region and SeaTac Airport’s ongoing growth as a global destination, now serving more than 50 million travelers per year.
